Lay out your favorite
RED shirt, dress, tie, or socks so you are ready for
National Wear Red Day on
Friday, February 5th to raise awareness about heart disease as the leading cause of death among Americans.
The good news is that there is a lot you can do to prevent heart disease:
SPEND LESS TIME SITTING / Stand up to heart disease, literally! Try the 20-8-2 rule throughout your day. Stand up every 20 minutes, remain standing for 8 minutes, and move/stretch for 2 minutes.
ADD COLOR TO YOUR PLATE / Different colored veggies and fruit contain unique heart-healthy compounds. Eating a variety of color is an easy way to get a complete range of nutrients.
GET YOUR BEAUTY SLEEP / Getting enough, quality sleep lowers risk for heart disease, heart attack, and stroke. You can sleep yourself healthy!
TACKLE STRESS / Stress is inevitable, but you can take actions to manage some of the stress in your life by practicing gratitude and mindfulness.
